EGYPTIAN CUISINE

You may be surprised to know that Egyptian history spans more than 7000 years, during which a great deal of political, cultural and, culinary shifts have taken place. Much of what we now recognize as Egyptian cuisine has taken influences from parts of the Middle East (Egyptian falafel, shawarma, or hummus), Europe (creamy béchamel, tomato sauce, and pasta), the Mediterranean (fresh vegetables, beans, and herbs), and even Africa (savory spices like allspice, cloves, and cumin). We source the tastes of Egypt in fresh and healthy recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. Much of Egyptian food is naturally vegetarian and gluten-free. Our meats are halal, responsibly raised with no hormones or antibiotics. It’s clean food, made with only whole ingredients.

Prior to their journey in the fast-casual food industry, Tim and Hala had long successful careers in higher education. So why would two Ph.D.s want to start a restaurant? Simple! Passion for creating a unique culinary experience and sharing healthy dining options with those in search of something different. The pair has traveled to over 40 countries learning about global culinary influences. Inspired by a myriad of lifelong experiences within the food industry, Tim and Hala are on a mission to provide a modern spin on simple, fresh, and preservative-free Egyptian cuisine. Starting with The Taza Truck in 2014, Tim and Hala have grown the business from a single food truck to their first brick and mortar in Easton PA to their new location Ka’moon in Old City Philadelphia opening in 2018.
